 In few days, I will finaly bring Alpha 8400 "home". Alpha is ready for transport, and I am now getting all the logistics done, to bring this ultimate machine to a safe place. I will probably spend a day or two, refurbishing and cleaning it, then it will go on-line. Alpha 8400 will join Preatorian cluster as a remote node - not as a direct cluster member. Currently there is no room in my "server room" at home, so I have arranged a temporary location. I will provide more acurate data on CPU/MEM/STORAGE soon, but it ...

Many hobbyists run their VAXens or Alphas on thenet.. full time or just for 4th of July. Anyway we (mostly) all somehow connect to the internet that is becoming more and more hostile and full of whell.. junk.
The idea is to interconnect all those VAXens and Alphas using Decnet via IP. It will take some coordination, but it is doable. Ther is an initiative to connect Deathrow Cluster and Preatorian Cluster in very near future.. but individual nodes are very welcome too !

VAX 4000-500 is a new remote node of a Preatorian OpenVMS cluster. VAX is not a direct member of a cluster, but it is reachable trough DECnet via IP - node OMEGA, DECnet 1.11
VAX has not unified SYSUAF with the cluster, so if anybody needs an account, please send me en email.

After extensive work, I will soon switch the front-end intel server with AlphaServer 1000A. New server will also provide full DECUS matherial (TAPES, SIG etc) and freeware. Right now, the server is in it's 10th hour of initializing a 105Gb virtual volume at 33% on Mylex DAX 960PG. It is going to take 2 full days to build the volume... but it is worth it ! (Using 3 x 36G disks) Internal StorageWorks shelf is connected to bus 0 of the DAC 960. Bus 1 awaits the new storage..

Recently I have received 5+ DVDs full of DECUS tapes and stuff. Unfortunatly I don't have a decent disk storage system to provide all those DVDs. But somebody will decommision a storage soon, so... stay tuned.
